LPU Organized Three-Days Blood Donation Camp





Record collection of 801 units of blood at blood donation camp organized at Lovely Professional University



To reach regular and new heights of excellence towards Social Responsibility, Lovely Professional University organized a Three-Days Blood Donation Camp with the help of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) , PIMS Jalandhar and NGO PAHAL at University campus. More than 800 students and members of the staff queued up to donate blood on priority. The enthusiasm in girl-students/ female staff members was pulsed no less than their counterparts. A contingent of 19 Team Members comprising of doctors and technicians, under the guidance of Dr. SK Sharma, from IRCS, New Delhi visited the campus to streamline this noble cause. Third day Dr Lamba from Blood bank of PIMS offered his services. The camp was organized in very safe and secure environment. Record 801 units were donated; whereas, many of the students remained awaiting for their turn towards noble cause.

On this organization, the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Ms Rashmi Mittal said: "Our University strongly believes in its responsibility towards the society. Keeping in line with this philosophy, each and every student and employee carries the baton of community conscientiousness. As such, they have come forward to donate blood to set example for the others. She further added: "Donating Blood is contribution to a noble cause, which any healthy individual can make. It is one of the best steps towards welfare of the community. The gap in demand and supply of blood needs to be abridged."


Thanking the blood donors on behalf of the blood-needy patients while inspiring others to donate, and accompanied by Dr. Gyan Parkash, Dr. Monika, Dr Javed, Dr. Sharma. Dr Lamba said: "Blood is the essence of life. It is needed regularly for patients with diseases like 'Thalassemia' and 'Hemophilia' and also during serious accidents, injuries and surgeries. In fact there is no substitute for blood. So each drop of donation matters." Inspiring the students Prof Lakhbir Singh President PAHAL, added: "When one donates blood, one surely feels elated to give someone unknown the most precious gift- the gift of life."
