The Education Department of Lovely Professional University has scheduled a Six-Days Workshop on teaching skills for Elementary Teachers. It will continue till 30th March, 2011. All the days will be divided into different sessions for different types of training. Faculty of the University will be imparting them training in a very congenial atmosphere. 25 Elementary Teachers are participating. It is all to strengthen the Indian education scenario and to inculcate among the teachers the best of teaching abilities from the very foundation level.
It is illustrative that during the different sessions the teachers will develop themselves towards Programme Planning, Spoken English, Communication Skills, Personality Development, Etiquettes, Interactive Teaching, Learning by Doing, Skill of Class Handling, Art & Craft, Teaching through Dialogue/ Technology, Demonstrations etc. They will also be taken to the different departments of the university to broaden their vision and show various new methodology involved in teaching. They are to be specially guided about the usage of Face-Book, Orkut, Google and other internet applications of utmost necessity in the present days.
Inaugurating the Workshop, the Director General of the University, Er HR Singla motivated the visiting teachers to be Role- Model for their students. He further elaborated: "The intelligence quotient of the young students, of daily developing internet age, is very high. As such, teachers too have to be updated in all the skills and technologies to impart the best of education to their students." He further explained that the University wants to bring overnight revolutionary changes in the education scenario right from the bottom level to the top; "We want the Indian Teachers should once again be paid respects in full, throughout the world, like those of Takshila in yester-years."
On contacting, two of the elementary teachers, Ms Kuljeet Sandhu and Ms Meena Sharma said: "We have started learning so many new things at a single stretch. In addition, the infrastructure, planning, departments, hostels of the University have impressed us to the core. We are lucky, indeed, to be a part of it at present."
